KARACHI: A combined bowling and batting effort led Gulshan Gabroos to their third consecutive victory in the ongoing Karachi Tape Ball Premier League (KTPL) Season 4 with a seven-wicket win over Lyari Legends in the eighth match of the tournament here at Moin Khan Academy on Wednesday.

Legends’ captain Raza Chandio’s decision to bat first backfired as his team could only accumulate 78 runs for the loss of eight wickets in their first innings.

Leading the way was skipper Chandio, who smashed one four and four sixes on his way to an 11-ball 32.

Besides him, only Dawood Suleman (14) and Qari Hameed (13) could amass double figures while the rest struggled against a disciplined Gabroos’ bowling attack.

For Gabroos, Imran Abbas, Zabi Ullah and Abdul Salam claimed two wickets each, while Jallat Khan made one scalp.

In response, Dawood Pathan’s blistering cameo powered Gabroos to amass 99/2 in their allotted six overs and acquire a handy 22-run lead.

Dawood struck four sixes on his way to top score for the Gabroos with unbeaten 37 from 19 deliveries, followed by skipper Bahadur Ali and Ubaid Khan, who scored 16 each.

Trailing by 22 runs, the Legends’s batting unit once again failed to amass a massive total and managed only 75/5 in six overs to set Gabroos to chase a modest 54.

Opening batter Muzammil Kamoki was their standout batter in the second innings, scoring 30 off 11 deliveries, while middle-order batter Hameed made an 11-ball 24.

In the second innings, Jallat and Imran bagged two wickets each for the Gabroos, while Salam picked one.

Chasing a modest 54-run target, the Gabroos comfortably knocked the winning runs for the loss of three wickets and seven balls to spare.

Openers Ahsan Chitta and Bahadur Ali were their joint top-scorers in the run chase with 15 each, while Salman Khan contributed with seven.

The three-wicket victory strengthened Gulshan Gabroos’ command at the top of the KTPL Season 4 standings with six points in three matches, while Lyari Legends sank to the bottom with two defeats in as many matches.
